About HomeSight

Bringing essential care to people who can't easily come to us

We're a home-visiting team of opticians and audiologists, contracted with the NHS to provide free eye and hearing tests to people who find it difficult to visit a high-street practice — across Greater London, the Home Counties and the wider South East.

Our story

Started by an optician who was tired of saying no.

In 2010, our founder Aarav Patel was an optician at a small high-street practice in Woodford Green. Week after week, family members came in asking the same question: "My mum can't get out of the house — can you come to us?" The answer was always no.

That year, he applied to become an NHS-contracted domiciliary provider and started visiting patients in their own homes — at first in his own car, with a folding chart and a borrowed retinoscope. Today, HomeSight is a team of forty clinicians and care coordinators serving Greater London, the Home Counties and the wider South East.

The mission hasn't changed. Essential care, delivered at the kitchen table, free at the point of use for those the NHS says qualify.

What we believe

A clear set of values that show up at every visit

We're a small team with a big remit. These four things matter more than anything else we do.

Same standard, every visit

A home test should be as thorough as a high-street test. We bring full clinical kit, the same testing protocol, and the same time per patient.

Patience above everything

Many of our patients have dementia, are anxious, or are hard of hearing. Our clinicians are trained to take the time it takes, with no clock-watching.

No hard sell — ever

If the existing glasses are still fine, we say so. If a hearing aid won't help, we say that too. We're a clinical service, not a sales operation.

A real person on the phone

No call queues, no chatbots. Speak to our care coordinators directly between 9 and 5, Monday to Friday.

Records that follow the patient

Test results, prescriptions and audiograms are shared with GPs and care-home staff at the patient's request — properly, on time, and securely.

Safeguarding-first

Every clinician is DBS-checked, identifiable on arrival, and trained on the Mental Capacity Act. Family members are welcome to be present at every step.
